    Status Bar JavaScript Problem...

    Hi,

    The attached Zip file has 2 HTML files made in DreamweaverMX.

    One called "THIS WORKS.HTM" and the other "PLS. MAKE THIS ONE WORK.HTM"

    Basically you will see from the one that works that the status bar (on the bottom left of the screen) has flashing text that stays there.

    I want to the same on the other file.
    Pls. can you copy/paste the Javascript for me into the 2nd one & post that on the lounge so I can see where you put it to make it work.

    When I tried this, it didn't work for some reason.
    Thanks,

    m.q.

    I'm afraid I don't see the first one 'flashing' - it sort of stutters every second or so.
    Anyway...

    In the second, you have a
    <script>
    tag without closing it with a
    </script>.

    Try replacing <script> with <body> then immediately after paste from the one that works everything between
    <script language="Javascript" type="text/javascript">
    and
    </script>

    Re: Status Bar JavaScript Problem...

    Thanks, I will try that.

    Hey - does anyone have any decent JavaScript by which I can display text there & force it to stay there.
    i.e. when use presses a hyperlink, I don't wany any information about the link to appear in the status bar.

    This script is supposed to do that, but as Leif is saying, it aint flashing, it's stuttering!

    Thanks,

    m.q.

    Re: Status Bar JavaScript Problem...

    Thanks man.

    Problem with both "Hide Status bar message I and II" is that they only hide MOUSE OVER hyperlink info.
    But when the mouse is pressed down, the link info. is shown.

    This holds for I think ALL the jscripts from this site. The script in my first example hides the link info at all times.
    That is what I need, but a better looking one as you highlighted.

    Gracious,

    m.q.

    Hi, M. Q. ~

    Go to http://www.xp-smoker.com and notice the status bar script - it was put in to accomplish your ends. Feel free to view source, copy and modify it to suit your needs.

    Thanks for that.

    I will also try to get the URL displayed without the animation by playing with the script.
