    Installing IE 5.x

Does anyone know how to change the default install location of IE 5.x. I mean- when you install it from a server and want to re-install it, it always looks to the server. If you install it through the web it always look to the web to install. Sometimes I get this when installing Outlook 98 too.

I'm not sure of the exact place this would be, but I would suggest looking at the .ini files in the windows directory.

it's in the registry but i recommend reinstalling from the location you want it to install from. Plus, using windowsupdate can affect where it looks, although generally, it looks in the download folder.

Can you tell me where in the registry? I am unable to control where the techs install IE or Office from. Some use the network others use cd's. Thanks for the info.

search for a key called installsource (no spaces). This may only exist from programs using the msi installer or that can be uninstalled.
