    Outlooks preview pane (2000)

Anyone know how to ensure that an infected mail doesn't execute while viewed in the preview pane of Outlooks inbox?

I use Chilton Preview and am happy with, including the price <img src=/S/free.gif border=0 alt=free width=30 height=15>. You will probably find other options at Slipstick and there are past threads on this topic if you care to trawl back in this forum.

My security patch for IE5 is up to date, but I'm unsure how that interfaces with Outlook.

These documents explain in more detail how Outlook uses Internet Explorer to display HTML-format e-mail, and the hazards of this arrangement that can be caused by viewing the e-mail either in the Preview Pane or in a separate window:

Microsoft Security Bulletin (MS01-020): Incorrect MIME Header Can Cause IE to Execute E-mail Attachment

Microsoft Security Bulletin (MS00-043): Patch Available for 'Malformed E-mail Header' Vulnerability

OK, I read the bulletins and see what your saying. Fortunate for me IE is updated and hope that the Chilton plugin will give the added security that I'm looking for. Thanks for your input.
