    Speaking of Mozilla..... (Moz 1.3.1)

Ever since I upgraded to 1.3.1 recently, I see some funny stuff in the email client. Whenever I compose a message to be sent, Mozilla decides to underline (as if URLs or mailto) the strangest of words in the body of the message. Trouble is, you can't "see" it until AFTER you have sent the message. I could make a screenshot but don't want to waste Lounge space if not necessary. I just sent my son an email with some update info on his Mom. After sending, the email had words like Mom, answered, her.... underlined as if they were links. Strange

Is there anything in the Edit/Preferences.../Mail & Newsgroup settings that stands out (perhaps under "Send Format"?

No settings anywhere that I can see, Phil. It's no big deal so I'll just hang around and see what happens. I guess I was as much curious to see if anyone else using 1.3.1 had the same view. Weird stuff like that just piques my curiosity, I guess. Like this one also - 1.3.1 decided on it own to disable several of my email filters. Took me some time to even notice WHY they weren't working.

    Hi Al

I'm not using Moz 1.3.1, yet, but is there a spelling/grammar checker turned on that might be the culprit?.....but then it should indicate the words before you send. <img src=/S/igiveup.gif border=0 alt=igiveup width=31 height=23>

    Have a Great day!!!

Not to my knowledge, Ken. As far as I know, there's still no built-in spell check in Mozilla and I've not added any.

A bit late in the day, but it could be you have some corruption in your Mozilla profile. It can pay to be rather meticulous when upgrading from one version to another. Generally, the advice is to only "roll over" the bare minimum of files. You may also wish to try Thunderbird - the Mail Only component of Mozilla - see <post#=273026>post 273026</post#>. HTH

Yeah, thanks for the advice. Ever since WAY BACK, I am rather fussy about upgrading. I alway uninstall an older version, after saving my bookmarks, address book and email files. Then I USUALLY blow away registry entries to make sure I'm starting as "clean" as possible. After I install a newer version and RUN it for the first time, I copy back the bookmarks, address book and mail files. I just haven't had the nerve to try Thunderbird or Firebird yet! (I guess I'm too nervous)

I suspect the cocktail of distortions that you are getting makes me far more nervous than your apprehensiveness about running the new apps GRANTED your basic caution. I started running Mozilla as soon as the Mail component was added in (?4 years or so ago?) and I have yet to experience anything like what you are describing. Occasionally there are some rather strange side effects arising from MS Security Patches, but it would be strange if they affected Mozilla.
