    Size limit (WD 2000)

is there a limit for the string size that a DocVariable can accept? There is a 255 character on the Custom Properties...I was wondering if I could use A DocVar to store more info than Cust Props can take.... and thus retrieve it using some COM compliant code like DSOFile....as opposed to opening and closing the file... .
    Thanks in advance... .

I don't use DocVars and haven't tested their size limitations; would you mind doing that for us? <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

Regarding accessing DocVars with the document closed, I have not heard about any software that will do that. You could break up your long strings into multiple DocProperties (e.g., myProp1, myProp2, myProp3).
