Relative paths for linked Visio files (2000/SR1)

As a technical writer, I often link Visio drawings to my Word 2000 (SR1) files.
I do this using Insert|Object|Create from file|Link to file and the resulting field is as follows:
    LINK Visio.Drawing.6 "C:<absolute path on my PC>file name.vsd" "" a p

When I change the absolute path to a relative path, Word always restores the relative path to an absolute path when I re-open the file.

I have no such problems when linking pictures (Insert|Picture|From file etc.)

Does anyone know how I can keep the file path relative?

    Thanks,

    David

Re: Relative paths for linked Visio files (2000/SR1)

Based on a response by Lounger StuartR to a different question of mine, I believe that the reason is that in Edit|Links, all my Visio files are set to update automatically. This means that for some reason Word is automatically changing the path from relative to absolute. I have now changed the update from auto to manual so I believe that this will keep the relative path intact.
