Hyperlinks (A2000)

Hope there is a suggestion. I want to MASK a hyperlink field. I don't want users to see the links as the links will tell where files are stored at.

I thought I could make the field invisible and put a lable over the field on a form but that didn't work.

    Any suggestions from the Pro's?

    Thanks

(Edited by D Willett on 30-Jun-03 17:14. )
Hi Roberta
Not sure if this will do the trick but it's worth a try.
I have similar controls, such as temp text fields, path names etc and I put them in the form footer.
I then set the footer to Visible = No from the properties.

Strange Roberta, I just set a Hyperlink field to invisible and it worked, Is there anything else we should know in case something has been missed ?

    Re: Hyperlinks (A2000)

    Dave,

Well...let's see. Only at the thought stage of this right now...so .... I only have 1 lil ole table right now...tblTOC...w/3 fields...anTOCID (ANfield), TOCName(text), and HyLinkAddy(Hyperlink). I then have a form using tblTOC as a recordsorce. If I set HyLinkAddy visible to False...then clicking on the field doesn't work, nor would the user know to click on the field.

    Thanks

I think I understand now, you want the user to be able to click a field which shows the item and not the link !!

ie a report on your hard drive or a web page.

You could still hide the Hyperlink field and use the on_click event of the label by using either the "Follow Hyperlink" method in VBA, or Shell: it out, does sound more of the idea ?

    e.g

    Shell "C:Program FilesInternet ExplorerIEXPLORE.exe http://www.Google.com "

    or

    FollowHyperlink HyLinkAddy

    Dave,

Thanks for the suggestion. I found it. Easily done it edit hyperlink. Just select "Text To Display" in "Edit Hyperlink".

    I appreciate your help.
