Address Book (2002)

Is there a way to insert names and addresses from your address book into your current document without a lot of fuss? In Word Perfect, all I had to do was open the address book and double click the person I wanted and the info was inserted at my cursor. Also, is there a way to convert all names from the WP address book into the Word address book?

(Edited by Kevin on 01-Jul-03 14:55. Added one more a.k.a.)
Yes, there's an easy part to this and (typically MS), there's a hard part.

EASY:
Word has a toolbar button named "Insert Address" (aka "GetAddress" and "Address Book" and "Select Name") To put that button on a toolbar:

Open the Customize dialog ( right click any toolbar and select Customize).
Then click the Commands tab.

In the Categories window pane select "Insert". In the Commands pane scroll down to "Address Book..." Drap and drop that
puppy to your toolbar of choice. Click the Close button. Now click your new Address Book button.

You've got access to any address book via that button; however, there's a second part to all this.

HARD:
Getting address books listed in the "Show Names from the:" drop down list isn't obvious. If the address book(s) you need are contacts folders
in Outlook, you must indicate that the folder be "included" as Outlook Address Book (right click the folder, select properties, click the Outlook Address Book tab
and check the "Show..." box.

Also, you may not like the format Word uses when it inserts the address. You can change this by altering an autotext entry named "AddressLayout"
