    How can I remove the line underneath hyperlinks I'm creating in a webpage?

    With great ease <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>
    Select the hyperlink text, and click on the Underline button!

    That doesn't work. It's an automatic underline in FrontPage, and the Underline tool isn't even depressed. Even so, I tried it, and it still doesn't have an effect.

    Hmm, so it is not straightforward text you have entered then made into a hyperlink?

    Can you post the code from the HTML view?

    <P ID="edit" class=small>(Edited by Leif on 01-Jul-03 19:15. - to revert attached text colour back to its original white!)</P>Ah! Are you using Word to write the code with? (There seems a lot of extraneous code.)

    OK, it looks like I must remember incorrectly - selecting the text in Normal view and using the underline button certainly works in FP2002.

    Anyway, what you need to do - and what the underline button does to the hyperlinks - is add:<pre>style="text-decoration: none"</pre>

    to each link.

    Attached is your script back, hopefully suitably modified.

    No, I wasn't using Word to create page, i just pasted text there with graphic of image i was working on so you could visualize it better.
    I am creating in Frontpage, and I just typed the text, right-clicked on it, hyperlinked to a bookmark in the page, and an automatic underline showed up making me ornary.
    Thank you for showing me how to include the style="text-decoration: none" line to remove them link per link, so thankful as well that you took the time to actually do it for me too! WOW you guys are great!!!! I have The QUE Frontpage 2000 book in front of me, and no where in this enormous text could I find anything about the line you gave that works so well.

    One other thing you can do with styles that might not be listed in your book, but can be added between a pair of style tags in the header. (These particular references are, for some reason, called pseudoclasses.)

    <style>
    A:link {text-decoration: none}
    A:active {text-decoration: none}
    A:visited {text-decoration: none}
    </style>

    This should apply universally to all links in your document, assuming you want that result, simplifying your code.

    There is an addin from Jimco that automatically will remove underlines from your web.
    It is called the Hyperlink Underline Remover (naturally).
    Get it at...
