    Disk is Full (Word XP)

    Hello. I am working on a Word template that I developed somewhere else. But for some reason, I keep getting an error as follows when I try to save it:

    "The Disk is Full."

    However, there is spare Gigabytes of space and I have 512 MB RAM. The templates is only 1 MB in size.

    Does anyone have any suggestions as to what might be going wrong? This template worked perfectly fine on my other system.

    One other obscure possible cause for this, that's not covered in the KB articles Hans has pointed to:

    If your template has a reference set to a global template, and that global template resides on different drives on your two different development machines, that may make you more likely to see this message.

    In the template team I used to work in, we would sometimes get this message - it seemed to occur because some developers had Word, and the global template, installed on C:, while others had them installed on D:. The error never arose when a template was worked on successively by two developers who were on say, C, but only occured when a template was worked on successively by two developers who were using different drive letters - just another thing to look out for.

    Gary,

    Thanks for this help. I removed all the references to the global templates and saved the template. Then I added the references back to the global templates, and now the error seems to have disappeared.

    Great - glad that seems to have worked.

    I did leave that information out in my post so I'm glad you've posted it - deleting the reference, saving, and then re-adding the reference is exactly what needs to be done in that instance. <img src=/S/thumbup.gif border=0 alt=thumbup width=15 height=15>.
