    WINDOWS Shut Down (XP Home)

Using normal path friend's computer will not shut down. START-Turn Off Computer - Turn Off has the computer muttering to itself then presents the normal desktop. Pressing the power off button on the machine will not turn it off! I can get the machine to turn off using the CTL+ALT+delete, selecting 'Disconnect', 'Delete My Office?', etc. path but she would like to have the normal path work. CTL+ALT+delete just shows her name as the only user. Tasks shows nothing running at the time. I've run sfc /scannow to no avail. Does anyone have an answer here? What am I missing?

    Try This
1: Click - Start - Control Panel - Performance and Maintenance - Power Options
    Tab
2: Then click APM - Enable Advanced Power Management Support
