    uploading (Front Page 2002)

I recently created a new page in my web folder and cannot upload it to my domain. I get a Window that says:Microsoft Front Page/Server Error: Cannot close file service.cnf.
I did a Search and found fifteen files named "service.cnf" on my computer. I used Detect and Repair in my Help menu bar. I have rebooted interminably and still cannot upload my files. I've been using this software for over a year and this is a new wrinkle.

    Any suggestions?

Thank you. I believe the problem is with the provider of my domain...NOT with my Front Page.

    Thanks again.

If you are still having trouble with this then I wonder if you have considered having the FrontPage extensions reinstalled on your site (you may be able to do this yourself depending on the host you're using otherwise ask your hosting service to do it for you). If the FP extensions get corrupted then you'll get all sorts of strange happenings "out of the blue".
Also, are you publishing incrementally (i.e. publish changed pages only) or publishing the whole site? If the former, it might pay to try republishing the whole site if that is an option for you.

    Thank you.
I AM still having trouble. My site provider gave me the helpful suggestion to study the FrontPage tutorials! I have been using FrontPage to compose my web site for over a year. I have uninstalled and re-installed FrontPage in case something was corrupted on my computer. I will follow your suggestion and see if that will clear up my problem.
At present, I am stuck with not being able to update the Meeting page for my organization and my frustration level is steadily mounting!

This is a problem on your service provider's side. They don't have the correct permissions set up on your site. It could be resolved either by removing then extending the server extensions to your website again or checking to make sure your Active Directory user has permission to the actual folders on the physical drive. When your provider extends the server extensions to your site make sure they have a check box in "Allow User to Upload Executables" and they set your username to the site's administrator.
