    transparent edge fade

Can anyone help me figure out why a picture given a transparent fade out at the edge looks transparent in photodraw but when I take it into Front Page it keeps a white background. I've tried .gif format, drag and drop, cut and paste but each time I keep the white background?.
Thanks. PS, it's a photo so it starts out as a jpg.

    Re: transparent edge fade

only gifs have transparentcy. have you tried setting the transparent color in FP? (use the image tool)

When an image has a transparent color, it really has a color that is considered transparent - many times that color is some wild purple or pink - other times it's black or white. Before other programs can display the imge as transparent, they need to know which color is to be treated as transparent.

it's the MNG format (related to PNG)
AFAIK, no current graphics programs or browsers support transparent jpg yet.
