PPT: Selected text won't show (97, 2000 for sure)

Since the search doesn't work and I'm desperate, I'm hoping there is someone out there today to answer this question! When you have white text and are using a template presentation design that you downloaded from some website, i.e. NOT a powerpoint default template and you are using white text, when you select the text, the selection is black but the text won't show up. ARRGGGGGHHH... anyone know how to overcome this irritating bit of mumbo jumbo (I'm trying to be nice <img src=/S/blackteeth.gif border=0 alt=blackteeth width=20 height=20> )? It's especially irritating in 97 because of the outline capabilities, if you know what I mean! - Thanks a ton - Renee

I kept messing around with the PowerPoint until i got it to work! What you have to do is:
    1. Click on Format/Slide Color Scheme (or right click a "blank" spot on the slide)
    2. Go to Custom
    3. Change the Background to a pale gray
    4. When you go back to your slides, you have to again choose text as white (remember to do this on your Master slides!)
and Viola! Whenever you select your text you can actually see it!!! NOW if I will only REMEMBER this little trick! - Renee
