Adobe Distiller Stops Before it Finishes

Ever since upgrading from Word97 to Word2k (with Win98 & Acrobat4.0), distiller stops at the point "Distilling - Starting the Job".
In fact it makes the pdf as it should, and the log file, but seems unable to open acrobat to view the file.
It worked perfectly on W97, so is there an update required to make it work on W2k?
It seems as if this is related to word2k's single document interface, since it minimises the word window -not only the document?
    Thanks as always.

    Hi DMc,

If you have version 4.0, you need to upgrade to 4.05 before it'll work with Work 2K. Unfortunately, you can't download the upgrade. You have to contact Adobe and have them send you the CD.

When I first ran into the problem about two years ago, it was before Adobe released 4.05. I called support. When I told 'em I upgraded to Office 2000, all they could say was a quiet, "bummer." I broke the code of the West and said a discouraging word.

    HTH,

    Chris

You must be using the Create Adobe PDF macro.

If you are willing to forgo the advantages of hyperlinked PDFs, you might choose Adobe Distiller as your printer driver, after choosing Print Optimised Job option settings for Distiller. This works with Version 4.0 which I use, and Word 2000.
