A great Uninstaller

Here is a great program for uninstalling. I haven't used WinXP ADD/REMOVE to Uninstall a program in over a year. It really uninstalls everything, even stuff in the registry that ADD/REMOVE never removes. It also has a Drag and Drop feature that allows you to drag a program to it's Desktop Icon and it will remove it. And a whole lot of other great features. At least give it a try. It has a trial period to give you a chance to use it first. I love it. And the User Window is very cool . Also will tell you any new programs you have installed and any that are not installed correctly. Anyway, take a look at it. Ursoftware

    Re: A great Uninstaller

    Hi Cowboy:
I used to use an uninstaller back with Win 95...sorry I didn't stick with them. But let me ask you, will the YourUninstlaler uninstall apps that were installed before you had it? i.e. have you used it to uninstall programs that you've had more than a year? One thing I've always worried about is that it would uninstall a dll or other shared file that some other program needed.
    Cheers,

    Looks good, and reasonably priced.

I use MyUninstaller. It is not as slick or well integrated as "Your Uninstaller", but is an improvement over the standard windows uninstall. The user interface is "plain Jane" but gives far more detailed information and control than windows does. After an uninstall, I use jv16 PowerTools (from ) to clear out any remaining dregs from the registry. Together, they make up a alternative for anyone on a limited budget.

    Hi Tim:
When you use PowerTools, do the entries that you delete show up brown or green? I always delete the green ones, but have been afraid to delete the others.

Have you got the current version, 1.3? I get red, green, and grey (with a "?") entries in mine.

The green should always be safe to delete. The grey are an each-way bet; shouldn't wreck the system, but could affect the application. The red could cause more serious grief if deleted. You get a subtle caution, see below, before it lets you delete a red one.

I always check, even the green ones, with a right-click and "Show entries" before deleting anything (and that's after the backup ).

Yes Phil it will. Soon as you download it will find everything you have installed and show it in the window just like above and uninstall it as if it had already been on the System forever. No it will show you any shared files and give you the option to leave them alone, or it will tell you nothing using them and that it save to get rid of them too.

    Cowboy,

I'm glad that it is working out OK for you. I had it installed for a while on my machine and it DID seem to be working fine, until one day I uninstalled an app with it and it really did a number on a group of other installed progs. I know it was from the uninstaller because it blew my system out of the water after it did it's "thing". It didn't affect my OS, but I had to re-install 3 other progs to get them back. The next thing I uninstalled was the uninstaller .

Just goes to show you that not all things work well on ALL machines, I guess.

(Edited by Phil Rabichow on 09-Jul-03 11:40. to add Addendum)
Thanks, Cowboy. I appreciate the information.

Tim, I have version 1.6, but it has only 2 colors, as I recall. I only delete the green so maybe I'm not looking for all the colors. But I think you have 1.6 also, from looking at your screenshot.

Addendum: My fault for not being clear & for misreading my version. I was talking about the version of PowerTools, which goes by the name jv16. I misread the 16 to be Version 1.6. I actually had 1.2 & now have 1.3 of PowerTools.
