    Hyperlinks (2K/2002)

I have a presentation saved as a web page on which I have hyperlinks to Excel files. Is there a way for the hyperlinks to open new windows in Internet Explorer? The reason I'm asking is that users often close the excel file which also closes Internet Explorer.

    Hi Rob,

This is a browser/HTML question, it is not specific to PowerPoint.

On the one hand, you can edit the generated HTML and add target="_blank" to an anchor tag to make a link open in a new window:
    Bill's Site

On the other hand, users can set .xls files to open in a new window:
    <UL><LI>Start Windows Explorer.
    <LI>Select Tools | Folder Options...
    <LI>Select the File Types tab.
<LI>Select Microsoft Excel Worksheet / XLS.
<LI>Click Edit... (in Windows XP: Advanced...)
<LI>Clear the "Browse in same window" check box.[/list]
