Word Prompt Builder (2002)

Is anyone aware of a way to create a prompt builder in Word similar to the one in WordPerfect, even if I have to purchase some third-party add-on? I can do the programming, but I have hundreds of templates to convert from WP to Word which all used the Prompt Builder feature (my favorite WP feature) and I am trying to save some time.

I don't see any converters in a quick web search... Can you post a sample WP template that has the kind of prompts you're interested in? I got WP10 with my new computer and I'll have a look later tonight.

Perhaps Bill Coan's DataPrompter could help you. I don't know if it covers the WP feature set: You might mail Bill and ask him for advice.

Be very leary about converting WP documents to Word. The cost of doing so will be corrupted files. We switched to Word 1.5 years ago and have noticed that every single time a user calls with a document that is 'broken' (footnotes not in numeric order, formatting that won't apply, styles all messed up, etc.) the document has either been converted (using File: Open in Word to open or Save: As in WP) or the text has been copied and pasted into Word. There are some other techniques to get WP text into Word, the least corrupting being Copy from WP (with all but the last paragraph marker) then Paste Special, unformatted text into Word. Then the user will have to apply their styles to format the new Word document.
