    Custom Formatting (Project 2000)

I know a person that put a lot of custom formatting in the Gantt Chart view, italics and colors, and wants them to carry over to another view. Is it possible to do this?

    Thanks,
    Justin K.

    Justin,

If the Gantt Chart VIEW with the custom formatting is an actual view, then you can copy the view to a new view by going to the main toolbar and select View, More Views, highlight the Gantt View and then press the copy button to copy the view to a new view.

Post back if this is not what you mean by Gantt Chart View.

    Re: Custom Formatting (Project 2000)

I have a custom View that uses a custom Table. I can copy the view, but the copy still uses the same table. If I add or remove columns from one view, it adds or removes them from the copy. I would like to have a new view with a new table, that would keep the same formatting on the tasks. Is it possible to copy the view and make a copy of the table?

    Thanks,
    Justin K.

    Justin,

To do what you want, go to View, Tables, More Tables and then copy the custom table you have to a new table (same data) with a new name. Then go to View, More Views, Select the Copy of the original view you created, Select Edit, and then change the table to the new table you just copied. The dataset for each view will then be the same, however, changing the columns in one view won't effect the other view.

Thanks! Your method worked perfectly. Although I'm sure you already knew it would.

    Re: Custom Formatting (Project 2000)

I seem to have hit another snag with that new view. It contains all the correct formatting and the correct fields. Now when trying to filter or autofilter, it does a highlighting filter. I've searched the help, but as always it didn't help. How do I turn off highlighting filter.

What exactly is a "highlighting" filter?

    Re: Custom Formatting (Project 2000)

    Justin/Gary:

When filtering, Project can either show only the selected tasks (hiding the rest) or show the whole list, with the selected tasks highlighted (highlit??)

Select: Project/Filtered for/More Filters to see the Highlight button. The highlight properties can be set with Format/Text Styles.

As far as I am aware, you need to opt for highlighting when choosing a filter; I don't know that it can be turned on permanently.

    Tony.
