    E-Mail Hyperlinks (EXCEL 2002)

I maintain an organization's membership list. One of the fields is "E-Mail Address". I have entered the know E-Mail addresses in that field. They show as hyperlinks.

When I click on them, Outlook opens.

I would like Netscape 7.1 to open.

    How?

Go to the Windows Control Panel and double click on "Internet options". In the dialog box click on the Programs tab. Drop down the list next to email and select Netscape Messenger (or whatever the version 7 name is) from the list.

    Re: E-Mail Hyperlinks (EXCEL 2002)

I followed the instructions to check Control Panel | Internet Options | Programs and E-Mail is clearly set to Netscape.

However, when I double click the E-Mail address in EXCEL 2002, WinXP Home, Outlook 2002 starts, not Netscape 7.1.

    Further Suggestions?

From memory, I believe there's another setting "applet" in the Windows XP Control Panel which determines whether you use the Microsoft defaults for browser, mail program and java. Have a look and see whether you have that set so that you can use non-Microsoft programs. HTH
