Protecting Presentation (PowerPoint 97)

Is there a way to protect a presentation you email to people? Is there a password protect feature for this program?

Alas! Password protection was introduced in PowerPoint 2000 (or 2002). See PPT97: Cannot Password Protect PowerPoint Presentations. Time to upgrade?

    Re: Protecting Presentation (PowerPoint 97)

Just to clarify... it was introduced in version 2002. We hoped and held our breath at the release of version 2000 and then let out a big rasberry when we saw it had not been included.

Word of warning. If you engage password protection in version 2002 and then try to use the show on a 2000/97 machine, the file will NOT open on those machines... with or without the password. Be careful.

Thank you to both of you for all that information. I will pass it along to the one inquiring about protecting the show. I have 2000 (they have 97) and couldn't find anything on 2000 about it.

Will look for it when we get to 2002...Thanks again, Meredith

FWIW, if you go to http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00038.htm you'll find some interesting workarounds listed.

    Cheers
