WS_FTP to sync or not to sync

I was recently overjoyed to find that WS_FTP Pro was capable of synchronizing files. <img src=/S/bananas.gif border=0 alt=bananas width=33 height=35> It is my understanding that it does this by comparing the file timestamps on the host with the file timestamps on the server (or vice versa depending which way you are sending the files). Anyhooooo, my joy turned to a certain amount of panic when I realized yesterday that it doesn't do it <font face="BrushScript BT">ALL </font face=brush> of the time. <img src=/S/drop.gif border=0 alt=drop width=23 height=23> There were newer files on the host PC that were not being sent to the server, the synchronization log was showing that the files matched. I checked the time on the host PC (WinXP) and on the server (Linux) and while they were within a couple of minutes of each other, the files in question were 4 hours older and were not getting updated. I finally had to run a good old fashioned ftp script to upload the files. has anyone else had this problem with WS_FTP Pro? (I also tried patching it to ver 8 AFTER I witnessed the problem but it didn't make a difference). Any ideas? <img src=/S/help.gif border=0 alt=help width=23 height=15>

Re: WS_FTP to sync or not to sync

<hr>my joy turned to a certain amount of panic when I realized yesterday that it doesn't do it ALL of the time<hr>
I know barely anything about FTP Clients and the tasks they perform, but this sounds like something Auto-It would handle. If I were more literate in programming it woulda become second nature, but the truth is I've never put it to good use, so I'd have to re-read the manual. Hopefully a more experienced lounger will come to the rescue...

    Thanks Diego

Thanks Diego, I'll give it a try! I'd still like to know what the deal is with the WS_FTP though if anyone out there has encountered this problem before. It is frustrating to pay for a couple of copies of a software only to find out it works..... SOMETIMES! Thanks.

    Re: Thanks Diego

As I said before, I rarely had to use an FTP Mgr. I do have the installer for WS_FTP, but my few needs for FTPing were handled with ease by SmartFTP. I really liked it (but, of course, I didn't make use of the power features, which go far beyond my knowledge...) <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

Hope you can deal with Auto It. It's not really that complex; it has a well-detailed help menu. Read thru it and see what you can come up with (even I wrote a little script a while ago!)
If you find it too troublesome post back, someone will give you a hint.
