Office Profile Wizard Usage (MSO 2K)

Since MS has discontinued support for Save My Settings, I have been trying to get all set with the Profiles Wizard.

    Questions:

    1) The version I have shows as "1.00.00.2624", and yet the ini file comments that certain features won't work till v 1.1... Where do I get same? There is an "XP" version, but as it saves to "Office 10" values, this obviously isn't it...

    2) Next, I just tested, and PW is NOT picking up all the files from "Cocuments and SettingsCharles W. BillowApplication DataMicrosoftOutlook" specifically, the RWZ file among others... So I thought I would just add that folder to the ini... but I cannot seem to grasp the tokens they are using, and therefore cannot be certain of the copy... What are the translations (folders) for these tokens? Can they be added to or changed?

    Help would be GREATLY appreciated...

    Regards,

I thought MS created a new Save My Settings that saved to your hard drive. Or is that only for Office XP?

Regarding augmenting the file the Profile Wizard creates, I think there's a risk of corrupting the whole thing. It would be safer to just save anything you think might have been missed in another folder and restore it manually.

    Jefferson (Jeff?):

I just d/l that "latest" SMS... they talk about having stopped the service prior... byt this one gives the same error -- Unable to connect...." or some such...

The Profile Wizard works great except for the adjustments to the ini file needed...

It is obviously set up to allow mods and adjustments... I just don' t quite grok the parlance...

    <P ID="edit" class=small>(Edited by Phil Rabichow on 18-Jul-03 16:59. to add additional links)</P>Hi Chuck:
I haven't modified my ini file, but here's a site,http://www.microsoft.com/office/ork/2000/two/45t3.htm, with a lot of info on using the Profile Wizard.

    Also, look at:
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...ofileWizard.asp &
    this technet article
There's a lot of info here & I havne't read most of it, but there is a section on the ini file.
    Hope this helps,

Your quite welcome. If it gives you what you need, don't forget to post back. It'll be nice to know how to do it when I need to. <img src=/S/evilgrin.gif border=0 alt=evilgrin width=15 height=15>

Re: Office Profile Wizard Usage (MSO 2K)

    Phil:

It gives you what you need, with some analysis and translation...

It refers you back to the Profile Wizard INI file for reference... never really explains or spells out the command structure (token descriptions etc....), but with some deciphering (<AppData>MicrosoftOutlook*.FAV HAS to = "Cocuments and SettingsCharles W. BillowApplication DataMicrosoftOutlookMicrosoft Outlook Internet Settings.FAV" in my Win2K, 'cause that's the only place there's any kind of *.FAV) you can muddle through,,,

They MUST have some "English" discussion of this somewhere...

I'll lt you know what I find...

    Thanks again...

    Chuck Billow
