    Explorer Window

After re-formatting my hard drive and installing my old edition of Windows ME, I lost my Explorer Window. My habit is to right-click on a folder and choose Explore so I get the folders on the left side of my windows and the contents on the right side. That no longer happens. I now receive a blank space on the left side of my window. I'm sure this is something I have turned on or off but I've been fiddling with it for the last 24 hours and can't figure it out.

    Can someone please help?

Try first closing the blank space at the left by clicking the close button (the x) in its upper right corner, then selecting View | Explorer Bar | Folders.

I tried that but it didn't work, Hans. Any other suggestions?

I've never been tempted to taste ME so I can't be sure, but if it is like XP:
View > Explorer Bar > Folders.

    Re: Explorer Window

Well, Leif, Windows ME was installed on my computer when I bought it and I have actually been quite pleased with it. I finally got up my courage to reformat and clear out some of the debris and this strange incident has occured. I have checked and re-checked my Folder Options and can't seem to find my error.

    Barbara,

Googling yielded just one mention of the same problem, without a solution. Perhaps re-installing Internet Explorer will help...

    Re: Explorer Window

After re-formatting my hard drive only three times, I got my Explorer Window back!

I don't want to do this again for a long time! Thanks for your reply and your help. Just knowing I can complain to someone else who understands is good.

    Barbara--

This is a "reverse twist" of your problem, in that here the situation is uninstalling ME to Install 98. Thought I'd post it for you anyway, because what you might have in common with this is that you uninstalled ME and reinstalled ME again. I'm not sure of all the scenario--between uninstalls and a new computer.
