    AutoCorrect Exceptions List

    Hi,

    Can anyone tell me how to delete all the entries in the AutoCorrect Exceptions list at once - rather than individually. There must be a file somewhere but I can't find it. I believe that AutoCorrect entries are stored in an ACL file and I have located this. When I open it (in Excel - though there may be a better program for opening it), I can see the AutoCorrect entries but not the Exceptions.

    Thanks for your help.

    Re: AutoCorrect Exceptions List

    I saved a new exception and my .acl file was updated, so I think they're in there somewhere. You can access the exceptions programmatically. For example:

    Sub AutoCorrExcepExtract()
    If MsgBox("Extract all current AutoCorrect exceptions into this blank document?", _
    vbQuestion + vbYesNo) <> vbYes Then Exit Sub
    Dim flExcep As FirstLetterException
    For Each flExcep In AutoCorrect.FirstLetterExceptions
    With Selection
    .TypeText flExcep.Name
    .TypeText vbTab & "FirstLetterException"
    .TypeParagraph
    End With
    Next flExcep
    Dim ticExcep As TwoInitialCapsException
    For Each ticExcep In AutoCorrect.TwoInitialCapsExceptions
    With Selection
    .TypeText ticExcep.Name
    .TypeText vbTab & "TwoInitialCapsException"
    .TypeParagraph
    End With
    Next ticExcep
    Dim ocExcep As OtherCorrectionsException
    For Each ocExcep In AutoCorrect.OtherCorrectionsExceptions
    With Selection
    .TypeText ocExcep.Name
    .TypeText vbTab & "OtherCorrectionsException"
    .TypeParagraph
    End With
    Next ocExcep
    With Selection
    .HomeKey unit:=wdStory, Extend:=wdExtend
    .ConvertToTable Separator:=wdSeparateByTabs
    End With
    MsgBox "Done!"
    End Sub

    ...at least in theory. My TwoInitialCapsExceptions list is wrong, wrong, wrong, listing the first one 8 times (there are 7 entries). Anyway, you can look through and delete using, for example, flExcep.Delete - at least according to the documentation.

    Re: AutoCorrect Exceptions List

    Sorry to change the subject slightly, but I thought that while I had attention of AutoCorrect exception experts . . .

    Has anyone had any success with "cc:{tab}"? I hate the way that Word insists on changing it to "Cc:{tab}", though I like the "Capitalize the first letter of sentences" feature otherwise. Adding "cc" to the exception list doesn't seem to stop it. Any solutions?

    For this use the AutoCorrect list. Autocorrect Cc: to cc:

    Like the hair of the dog that bit you!

    Thanks for the suggestion. One of those "why didn't I think of that" moments.
