    Chart Formatting (XP)

    Hi All,

I'm trying to format a data series within a chart. When I attempt to customize the data series area "fill effect" the transparency slider is grayed out. It seems that no matter what chart type or format I select this is always not available. But alas this is just what I need to make my chart awesome. What gives?

    Re: Chart Formatting (XP)

It seems that transparency for chart fills has been implemented in the latest version of Excel for the Macintosh, but not yet in Excel 2002 for Windows; I guess that the presence of the transparency slider in the chart fill dialog is in anticipation of a future enhancement.

John Walkenbach has a nice workaround; see Excel User Tip: Creating a transparent chart series.
