    Access 97 sr2 (syntex error)

    =IIf(not isnull([Agreement Date]),"FA Agreement Date: " & (Format([agreement date],"mm/dd/yy")))

Help, can anyone tell me what is wrong with this. I am going crazy. It is the control source of a text box.

    Thanks

Did you happen to name your text box Agreement Date? That would lead to a circular reference. Apart from that, there is nothing wrong with the expression (assuming that the comma acts as list separator in your Regional Settings.)

Re: Access 97 sr2 (syntex error)

The name of the text box is TXTAgreement so that would not be a problem and yes the comma is my list separator. I keep getting the message "Invalid syntax or you need to enclose your text in quotes"

I have found a way around it but it is just driving me crazy.

    Thanks for your help.

Again, there is nothing wrong with your expression. I pasted it into the control source of a text box, and got the result shown in the attached screenshot, without error message. So there must be some other conflict.

A wild guess: perhaps you have a missing reference. Unlikely, but it takes only a minute to check.
Open any module; then select Tools | References...
If you see any reference starting with MISSING, clear the corresponding check box, then click OK.

That was it. I had 3 missing references, I uncleared them and now it works. I would have never found that in a million years. Thank you so very much.
