    inserting pictures (WordXP)

    Hi there

I'm inserting company logos into a document(header), performing a task & then I would like to clean up the company logos.

When it comes to cleaning up & removing the logos - I was thinking for it remove the logos faster
is it possible to insert the logos say into a named field & then I have code which does a find on this field & deletes it?
Is there another way I can perform this task?

Is there a way I can insert the logo as a linked picture?

    many thanks
    Diana

    Hi Diana,

There is a recent lengthy thread about inserting, finding and updating company logos in a document header. It starts at <post#=274475>post 274475</post#>. There may be some code fragments you can use.

    Re: inserting pictures (WordXP)

    Hi Hans

the logo has to be positioned in a certain location on the page,
in my code if I use the fieldcode IncludePicture, using code would I have to position the location of my logo?
could I just set that up in my graphic image so when I use the code IncludePicture it positions the logo in the correct location?

    any ideas?

I believe INCLUDEPICTURE creates an InlineShape which you position as though it were text in a paragraph. If you want to use arbitrary positioning like a floating shape, you can either change the InlineShape to a Shape, or find a way to insert it as a Shape in the first place...

Is there a way you can name an object or shape?
ie create the shape >give it a name> then create it as a new autotext entry
ie instead of inserting a bookmark around the shape as the bookmark names have to be unique, as with my code if I keep inserting the same bookmark name the previous bookmark name would be lost.

I'm currently attempting to insert the shape in a field without much success:
I create the field CTRL F9 - typing the text 'IncludePicuture '
then pasting the shape in my field.
the shape is a new autotext entry.

when I insert the autotext entry > the result is the shape displays in my doc however the fieldcode is displayed as a big box with a red cross in the top left hand corner.

any suggestions or ideas for doing this another way?
    many thanks Jscher

<P ID="edit" class=small>(Edited by jscher2000 on 21-Jul-03 20:00. Re-read the thread, missed some things before.)</P>Oh, then I don't think you need a field at all. If the picture is physically saved as an AutoText, just insert that. If you wanted to link to the logo rather than saving it in the document, then INCLUDEPICTURE would be more useful, and you would give it a path, not a shape.

Added: I think a bookmark is the best way to "mark" it. However, it's possible that the picture will be the "first" InlineShape object in the First Page Header for Section 1 and you could identify it (with almost complete certainty) that way when going to delete it.

Alternatively, if you use INCLUDEPICTURE, you could replace the linked logo with a blank one of the same name instead of deleting the INCLUDEPICTURE field. That way, you can control whether the document's layout changes - a blank logo the same size as the original will preserve the layout, whilst a 1*1 pixel blank logo would (almost) have the same effect as deleting the field.
