    Searching for files (Win Xp)

    I want to search for files in specific folder. the search option only gives me My docs or the various drives, how can i search for a file thats in for example, My Docs Training Word

    Open a Windows Explorer window and navigate to the folder you want to search. Then click the Search button in the "Standard Buttons" tool bar. See attached screenshot.

    You can, if I remember correctly, go directly to that folder in Windows Explorer, and click the "search" button on the toolbar.

    I can't confirm this, as I'm using a W2K computer at the moment, and the XP computer is at home.

    In fact, you can specify any path in the Search dialog even if you open it from the Start menu. The last item in the dropdown list in the "Look in" box is "Browse...". This will display a dialog in which you can browse for a folder.

    If you know the path, you can also type it directly into the "Look in" box.

    Hi, 'Chelle ~

    And if you opt not to have the 'Search' button showing on an already crowded toolbar, you can go directly to the folder and press 'F3'.
