    Any network backup software advice?

Hello .. I was wondering what advice y'all might have for/against small business backup software. It will be loaded on a Windows 2000 server with an HP SureStore DAT drive. It has to backup local data, Oracle files, files from RedHat Linux shares (Samba) and data files from NT4 servers. We are currently using Backup Exec 8 on an NT4 server but it is not compatible with Win2K and we've had issues trying to back up servers in our DMZ. I was considering just updating the Backup Exec - we don't want to spend a whole lot starting down another software path but it may make sense to switch if our needs are better met by a different software set. Any help would be appreciated <img src=/S/blackteeth.gif border=0 alt=blackteeth width=20 height=20>

I'm afraid the only experience I've had is with BrightStor ARCServe. This was a real pain to get up and running and took about three weeks before we had it running as expected. Mind you now that it is running I think it is great! Just wouldn't want anyone else to go through the same to get to that point.

I also have BackupExec running on our mail server and it is very much set and forget, but that is on NT4.

Thanks Granville. Sometimes it is just as helpful to know what to avoid as to what to try.
