    Word Field Codes (Word 2002)

Can anyone suggest a good reference for working with Word 2002 field codes? Something with good and clear examples.
I have attached a form that I am trying to total the numbers from the dropdown boxes in column A at the bottom of the form but can't figure out how to write the formula.

    Thanks.

    I Ron:
"Using Microsoft Word 2000" by Bill Camarda is not a bad reference for field syntax. I don't know of any book that gives you ideas for different uses for fields, but forums like this & newsgroups are good.

Your formula doesn't work because it is attempting to sum only 1 dropdown. {=Sum(above)} works better, but even that is not good if there are blanks. See this article by Dave Rado regarding formulas in tables. Essentially, you have two tables where the second table is a row with your formulas. You separate them with a 1 point paragraph so that you can't tell they're separate.
    Cheers,

Thanks Phil. I will try the article and the book.
