Network Printer Problem

We were receiving an error which stated that "Remote Downlevel Document" would not print to our network printer. This seemed to come up every time someone printed.

I looked up this problem and it has been associated with the BugBear "virus" I ran a scan using Symantec Corporate Antivirus 7.6 with definitions updated 7/23/2003 and found nothing.

We also have been getting the same error message with actual name of file that causes an error in printing

We recently upgraded the server from NT to Win2000.

I have also looked up this on google and in MS Knowledge Base.

No Help there either.

We have a HP laser Jet three with external Jet Direct that is working. But both HP LJ 4050 printers on our network are having the same problem.

Yeah, I noticed while I was on the HP site that several people are having the same problem and HP doesn't seem to have a fix that I could find.

We solved our problem. The printer had been set to DHCP rather than static IP. Since everyone was set to the old static ID they could not find the new IP. You need HP network printer management wizard to change the printer back to Static IP. We then used this wizard to set everyone on our small network (30 nodes) with IP printing. It has been working great every since.

I don't think our problem had much to do with those mentioned on the HP web site.
