Does this happen with any database you try to convert to MDE, or just one specific database?

Re: Cannot Create MDE file (Access 2000)

You cannot create an mde file if there are any compile errors in your code. Try going into visual basic mode and compile your code to see if errors exist. If there are errors, correct them, and then try creating the MDE file.

Hans question also applies, does this happen to this one database or all databases?

Are you using Access 2000 or Access 2002? If you're using 2002, you can't create a 2000 MDE even on a file saved in 2000 format.
