Unmatched Query (2000)

    Hi Everyone --

I'm using the Unmatched Query Wizard to create a listing of unmatched barcodes (along with title and author). It's giving me an error: "Invalid Operation".

    Here's the query:
    SELECT [BS Inventory].ITEM_BARCODE, [BS Inventory].AUTHOR, [BS Inventory].TITLE, BS_Charged.ITEM_BARCODE
FROM [BS Inventory] LEFT JOIN BS_Charged ON [BS Inventory].ITEM_BARCODE = BS_Charged.ITEM_BARCODE
    WHERE (((BS_Charged.ITEM_BARCODE) Is Null));

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks,
    Kindra

I don't see anything especially wrong here, although I would change the first line to

    SELECT [BS Inventory].ITEM_BARCODE, [BS Inventory].AUTHOR, [BS Inventory].TITLE, [BS Inventory].ITEM_BARCODE

since you want to see the unmatched barcodes from BS Inventory.

    Re: Unmatched Query (2000)

It seems like it's the left join that's giving me problems. I've been experimenting and it works okay (will find all of the matched records) if I take the left join command off. Otherwise it just errors out on me.

    Re: Unmatched Query (2000)

Can you post a drastically stripped down version of your database?

Make a copy of the database and work with that.

Remove all database objects (tables, queries, forms, reports, macros and modules) that are not relevant to the problem.

In the remaining table(s), remove most records - leave only the minimum number necessary to demonstrate the problem.

Remove or modify data of a confidential nature.

Do a compact and repair (Tools/Database Utilities).

Make a zip file containing the database; it should be below 100KB.

Attach the zip file to a reply.[/list]That will enable Loungers to examine the problem.

I will do that tomorrow morning, if I can't figure out what the problem is.

I've been getting the attached error -- maybe this also has something to do with it?

    Re: Unmatched Query (2000)

The document shows an ODBC error - is at least one of the tables involved in the query a table linked by ODBC (for example in a SQL Server database)?
