temSend event not triggered (Outlook XP)

I have some code behind the Application_ItemSend event in Outlook, and this code is triggered whenever I press the SEND button in Outlook.

However, if I use the "Send to Mail Recipient (As Attachment)" option from anywhere else (eg Word), then this event is not triggered. Why?

    Thanks.

I guess that the File | Send To | Mail Recipient (...) options in various programs bypass the Outlook engine and use a lower-level mail interface; these menu options are not Outlook-specific and will also work if the user has installed another mail application.

The name of the interface HavsV is referring to is MAPI - in case you wish to look into it further. HTH

Hans is right, and this is expected behavior. Technically, send to recipient is an event of the Word aplication, not Outlook.

When I select Send to Recipient, the document is attached to a new Outlook e-mail. I then press the SEND button from Outlook, but the ItemSend event is not triggered.

The confusing thing is that I am using Outlook to send the e-mail, but the event is not being triggered.

Re-read what the other Loungers explained. When you use Send Mail in Word, you directly access the MAPI engine which underlies and powers Outlook's e-mail capabilities, you do not create an instance of Outlook even though Outlook may be running, just an e-mail dialog identical to an Outlook e-mail dialog which hooks into the MAPI process, and you do not create an Item-Send event becase the e-mail is created outside of Outlook.
