    Log-in Name (Pro-SR1)

I am using this PC on my office network, logging into the domain PCTax as Howard.CPATax. I will be taking this PC home to add to my peer-to-peer network with Workgroup name Home. My question is, how do I preserve access (by Word, Outlook) to the Documents and Settings/Howard.CPATax folder and subfolders? Can I continue to log in as Howard.CPATax?

    Howard,
You should still be able to use the domain login at home. If there is no domain controller I'm pretty sure that XP will use cached credentials to login to the notebook. What OS do(es) the other PC(s) on your home network run?

Getting into your machine with the work logon is no problem, either stand-alone or on an alien network. At least you will have TCP/IP / mail / web access; whether your work computer gets along with your home computers is another question.

    Joe, thanks for the reply.
The desktop and the laptop are running XP Home. While leaving the login name unchanged, I assume I will have to change from a Domain to a Workgroup using the Change button in the Computer Names tab of My Computer/Properties.

Unrelated question. Do you know how to Reply to All on this forum?

There is no "reply to all" functionality, but you can post a reply to one post and mention that it's in reply to other posts in the thread too. If you would like to thank several people, you can change the subject to "Thanks, all" or something like that

Howard, You should not have to change the domain. You should be able to login as is.
