    Opening File (Word 2002)

    I'm trying to open a letter in MS Word. I don't recal if any of the one's I'm having trouble with were mail merge letters or not, but I get the error message at the bottom of the screen that reads: Waiting for Microsoft Excel to accept DDI commands.

    Any idea what this means? I've found at least 3 letters that I can no longer open.

    Re: Opening File (Word 2002)

    Is it possible to activate the Visual Basic Editor (Alt+F11) while the message is "Waiting for..." is in the status bar?
    If so, activate the Immediate Window (Ctrl+G) and type or copy the following instruction:

    ActiveDocument.MailMerge.MainDocumentType = wdNotAMergeDocument

    then press Enter. If the document is a mail merge document, that should restore it to a "normal" document. <img src=/S/crossfingers.gif border=0 alt=crossfingers width=17 height=16>
