    * System Volume Information Access *

I am assisting one who needs to enable access to the C:System Volume Information directory.

XPH does not have the simple file sharing nor does it have the security tab. I know how to enable the access on XP Pro NTFS/FAT32 and XP Home FAT32, but not XP Home NTFS.

Accessing the System Volume Folder on Fat or NTFS Systems

I got into system volume folder in a recent thread but couldn't nail it quickly. I went to the book matresses and summarized--it was a Sys Restore thread. I have NTFS and I do remember boggying with some of the Security tabs but I have Pro. Let me know and I'll go after Home NTFS if you don't get it with the above link.

For the sake of others as this method applies only to XP Home NTFS, this was how I was able to gain full control permissions/access under to the System Volume Information folder:<UL><LI>'Start' > 'Run' > enter cmd > 'OK'<LI>At the command line, enter cd C: > Enter<LI>Enter cacls "driveletter:System Volume Information" /E /G username:F > Enter[/list]
