    Some kind of count fxn - I think . . . (Excel 2000)

    Hi
I have a list of names in a column in Excel. Some of the names appear more than once. I would like to count how many different names are in the list - as opposed to the total number of non-empty cells.
Thanks in advance for any help.

See the replies to <post#=270323>post 270323</post#>. The first two replies will work fine if you have a list without gaps (empty cells in between); later replies provide formulas that take empty cells and "" values into account.
