    New Notebook purchase

I am looking at buying a new notebook PC. I want a processor made for notebooks, long battery life and non shared video. I have looked at several of the Intel Centrino classified units. The catch here is I have not seen any that are touting the non shared video.
Price is an concern but I do know these features will cost more.
Does anyone have an idea of who's what would fulfill these basic needs.

When you say "non-shared video" are you talking about the few MB that can get swiped from the main system memory by the video card? That is, you want to leave all the memory usable by programs?

If so, why not just buy another 256 MB of RAM. and then you wouldn't notice? XP runs very nicely in 512 MB (or a bit less, maybe!).

Dell offers a shared memory model (Inspiron 500 m) and a model with ATI Radeon parts (Inspiron 600 m). I'm sure other vendors also offer both options, but of course, you'll pay a bit more for the dedicated hardware. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15> I tried to spec them identically {see attached} and the cost difference is about $175. Is that what a video card should cost?
