Update key field in linked form (access xp)

I have a form called hardware and a form called hardwarevendorinfo (both base upon tables with the same respective names). They are linked via a hardwareID field in both. I would like to create a button (on the hardare form) to open the hardwarevendorinfo form to review or enter data. How can I update the hardwareID field in hardwarevendorinfo with the current hardwareID in hardware when I enter a new record? I've tried using an expression to set the field value in an after insert event but was unsuccessfull. Thanks for any help or insight.

Re: Update key field in linked form (access xp)

I think I figured it out. I used Me.hardwareID.Value = Forms!frmhardware!hardwareID in VB as a before insert event. It appears to do what I wanted.
    Thanks anyway. -scott
