    French speller problem (Word97 Professional)

For reasons that surpass my understanding, Word97's French spellchecker
has ceased to work, complaining that it cannot find the "mssp2_FR.lex"
file. The same is true of the thesaurus function, which cannot find
    "msth32.dll".

I know that these functions worked reasonably well until a couple of months ago (the
last time I used them); that the files in question do not exist
on my disk, nor on my Office97 Professional CD, nor in several backups
    dating back to last year.

What I don't know is the where or why of these new requirements, nor where
I could find the files in question. Does anyone have them on his or her
disk? Could the Word97application been modified unbeknownst to me?

As far as I know, the English language version of Word 97 didn't come with French proofing tools, so that would explain why you can't find the dictionary on your Office 97 CD.

There used to be separate packages for other languages from Alki Software, but I think they have been discontinued by now. Do you happen to have a CD from Alki?

Thanks for the reply, Hans. Someone sent me a copy of the missing file, solving the problem for the time being.
