    Toshiba Satellite 2400

Little sister bought this laptop from a previous user. We want to change the boot sequence but can't because she doesn't know the password. Toshiba requires that the laptop be taken to a service center for a costly solution. Any assistance on how to access the CMOS/BIOS settings without a password is appreciated. Thanks!!

    Roberto,

There is a site that offers a password remover for Toshiba portables ( except older models T4500 thru T4900 ) that is plugged into the parallel port and the machine is booted to remove the password. I have NOT had any experience with this, so I can't vouch for it's ability to do this.

You can check it out at password It says it's 24.99 (pounds) plus shipping.

You can check them out by sending an email with the particulars on your portable and what kind of guarantees they have. <img src=/S/crossfingers.gif border=0 alt=crossfingers width=17 height=16>

    Roberto,

Also there seems to be a way to create a new password, if you are familiar with and can do some simple hex editing to create a password disk .

    Go to key

    It's worth a try and it's FREE.

    Re: Toshiba Satellite 2400

To Viking33: Appreciate both solutions offered. I can't use the "Hex" solution because I can't boot from the A: drive. Will attempt the "Key" solution as a last resort. In the mean time, if I format the C: drive so that the HDD is empty, will that force the laptop to use the A: drive when booting? Thanks in advance for any help!!

    Roberto,

It depends on how your BIOS is set up. IF your boot sequence is HD first, floppy second choice, then if the system doesn't find an OS on the HD, then it will look to the floppy in the A: drive next.
