    Regedit's Bookmark?

This may seem trite... but how come when I leave regedit and come back, it's right where I left it... even if I don't want it?

Before (Win98 et al) just "closed up" the registry so that whenever you went into regedit, you were at the top of the collapsed file... but now it is as you left it... fully expanded is that is the case, etc...

    ??

    Regards,
    Chuck

    Hans:

Found the first one... now it's giving me:

    Line: 3
    Char: 98
    Error: Expected Literal constant
    Code: 800A0415
    Source MS VBScript Compilation Error

    and the source code is:

' Listing 1. Workaround Code for Win2K's Regedit

    Const REG_LASTKEY = "HKCUSoftwareMicrosoftWindows" & "CurrentVersionAppletsRegeditLastKey"
    Set shell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
    ' BEGIN CALLOUT A
    shell.RegWrite REG_LASTKEY, "", "REG_SZ"
    ' END CALLOUT A
    shell.Run "regedit.exe"

    ??

    Regards,
    Chuck

    Hans:

Upon d/l the script, saving and executing, here's th error:

    Line: 1
    Char: 1
    Error: Expected Statement
    Code: 800A0400
    Source: Microsoft VBScript Compilation Error

    ??

Should I try the author directly?

Try changing the line starting with Const to<pre>Const REG_LASTKEY = "HKCUSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionApplets RegeditLastKey"</pre>

    It works for me then.
