    Hyperlink dialogue box (2000 SR1)

When you select insert hyperlink, the dialogue box lists recently browsed pages and documents. Is there anyway of clearing it, so it will be empty.

Outside of just being secretive, <img src=/S/wink.gif border=0 alt=wink width=15 height=15>, I would like to control what is in that list for training purposes. Last time I went to one of our regional offices, I had to borrow a laptop and while previous user's list was interesting to see, especially from a mis-use of the internet policy, I really didn't want to be associated with some of his less savory interests.

    Thanks

The "Browsed Pages" list is your Browser history list. You can clear this list in Internet Explorer: select Tools | Internet Options..., and click 'Clear History' (on the 'General' tab).

I'm not sure where the "Recent Files" list is stored for Office 2000. On my system (Windows XP, Office XP), it is in Cocuments and Settings<username>Application DataMicrosoftOfficeRecent. The only way I know of to get rid of this list is to clear this folder manually (it contains shortcuts only, not the documents themselves).

    Thanks Hans

I found the files and deleted the shortcuts.
There are still some odd things lurking under browsed pages, even after I cleared the files, such as
    http:
    about:home
    http:microsoft etc etc etc
and something very peculiar ewoks.aol etc etc etc. Who knows what this is and since I am not a fan of Star Wars, I suspect that someone else has been using my pc.

    Hetty,

about:Home is a reference to whatever page you have set as Home page in Internet Explorer; you're not going to get rid of that and it's nothing to worry about. I can't explain why you're still getting others after clearing your Browser history. Perhaps others with more knowledge about the inner workings of IE can help.
