Clipboard assistant thingy (2000)

    I never want to see that stupid clipboard assistant thing again. The little box that pops up every time I cut or copy something. How do I go about getting rid of it?

    Thanks,
    Justin K

    Have you ever visited the Visual Basic Editor in Office? If not, here are the steps:
    [list=1]
With an office application open, make sure the Clipboard toolbar is closed (not showing).

Press Alt+F11 to open the editor.

There may be anywhere from zero to many little windows on the screen. Press Ctrl+G to open or set focus on the Immediate window.

Paste this command and then press Enter:

commandbars("clipboard").Enabled =False

    (Note: In Outlook, there are two groups of CommandBars, so this would be different. Preface the command with ActiveExplorer. and, with a message is open, ActiveInspector. (both of those have a dot at the end).)

    Right-click on Office Assistant animated character, from pop-up menu choose Options, then click Options tab and uncheck the first checkbox ("Use the Office Assistant"). Click OK.

    To bring Office Assistant back, click "Show the Office Assistant" from Help menu.

    There are other methods to remove Office Assistant used for Office 97 (Office version 8):

    Kill Clippy! - The Microsoft Office Assistant

    (Office 97 has no built-in capability to disable Office Assistant.)

    Just remember you use Office 2000 (Office version 9)
