converting to ntfs (windows xp pro sp-1)

What is the best way to convert from fat 32 to ntfs on an upgraded machine running xp pro? I was going to use the following:
convert c:/fs:ntfs. I read something about including a /v. Now I am confused on exatly what to do.
    Thanks,
    Mike

Good reference! And, as always, before taking drastic action on your computer, it is well worth taking a <font color=blue>backup</font color=blue> which you know you can restore...
    <font face="Script MT Bold"><font color=blue><big><big>John</big></big></font color=blue></font face=script>

    Ita, esto, quidcumque...

    Good ole:
    www.ntfs.com
This has useful screenshots and commentary/minitutorials on NTFS file systems and FAT 32.
