I Lost my toolbar (2K)

     Loungers

OK so I have finished my macro writing, and I also made a nice toolbar that I can press buttons and have the macros do what they do.

Today, when I first started MS-Word 2000, I don't see my toolbar, and I can't run my macros any more. Normal.DOT does not seem to have any macros? It has an old date going back to January 2003, and the current one, with date 8/3/2003 does not seem to be of the right size?

The Toolbar I made is not listed in the View Command's dialogbox?!

I did store my macros in Normal.dot, and I don't know what happened to lose all of the macros, they have been working for a month now?

    What to do next?

Since you're a regular visitor of the Lounge, you know the importance of backing up frequently and regularly, so you shouldn't have lost too much, I hope.

You mention two Normal.dot files, one from January, 2003 and one from today. Where are these located, and are there more Normal.dot files scattered around your hard disk?

Are you sure you created your Toolbar in Normal.dot and not in a custom template?

YES [happy] I do have a backup, actually as of Midnight yesterday, well I am not sure when will you read this, so I would say 24 hour old backup, which in this case saved the day.

The confusion was based on MS-Word simply losing Norma.DOT just like that. I mean I had simply backed it up from its normal place, Cocuments and SettingsWassimApplication DataMicrosoftTemplates, I am sure it was not moved by itself simply because I had my laptop turned off, and powered down, like in Start | Shut Down | Shut Down.

This morning, the template was gone? So Word picked one up, it made a new Normal.DOT for today's session though it should have been there, and the other one was in my Cocuments and SettingsWassimApplication DataMicrosoftOfficeRecent. Talk about recent?!

So to answer your question, No more templates, and I gave you the paths. I like Word, but this is scary

    Thanks again.

    Yesp Jeffrey

I did specify Normal.DOT, because the Toolbar and its macros were for me to speed up some work, so that is where you put them.

Also the paths where I found them was the right one too.

Word just hickupped, and I wish I had a smilie to share here, but I don't.
