    It's an interesting short review, but I wasn't convinced there was anything there which would really make me go out and pay yet another

    Exactly my impession. The two interesting new features I saw were Reading mode, and "Compare side by side", where you can compare two documents in horizontally tiled windows, and Word tries to synchronize the scrolling.

    The new version may be a "must" for people that work with XML documents... though I fear that large XML documents (mine are usually multi-MByte) will slow down Word quite a bit.

    They are also planning to ration XML functionality/support in different versions it seems, and much has been written about this, but of course this could change by RTM time:
