    File Open default (Word 2000)

    I want my File Open dialog to always default to the folder I have set in Tools..Options, File Locations, Documents, however Word seems to always display the folder that I last accessed. What should I change so that File..Open always defaults to the same folder? Is this a Word or Windows setting?

    Re: File Open default (Word 2000)

    I would find that very irritating behavior, but here is how to do it:

    Make sure that only a standard blank document is open.
    Select Tools | Macro | Macros...
    Enter FileOpen in the Macro name box (exactly as spelled here!)
    Click Create.
    You will see something like this:

    Sub FileOpen()
    '
    ' FileOpen Macro
    ' Macro created 08/05/03 by me
    '
    Dialogs(wdDialogFileOpen).Show

    End Sub

    Immediately above the line starting with Dialogs, insert the following instruction (you can copy and paste it):

    Options.DefaultFilePath(wdDocumentsPath) = _
    Dialogs(wdDialogToolsOptionsFileLocations).Setting

    Note: the underscore character _ is a line continuation character; there should be a space before it.
